Siemens Healthineers posts earnings, revenue gains
Siemens Healthineers AG said Tuesday that its net income and revenue for the second quarter of fiscal 2020 increased amid strong growth at its imaging segment and in advanced therapies.
The German medical-equipment maker said second-quarter net income rose to 414 million euros ($452.3 million) from EUR381 million a year earlier.
Revenue rose to EUR3.69 billion from EUR3.51 billion, a 3.3% comparable increase.
The company said in February that it expected revenue growth for the fiscal year ending Sept. 30 to be in a range of 5% to 6% compared with the previous year.
Siemens Healthineers said the coronavirus pandemic dented comparable growth by about four percentage points.
The company said its initial outlook for fiscal 2020 is no longer valid, and that it can’t currently make assumptions.
“Overall, our business has performed well in the second quarter despite the pandemic and growing economic turbulence around the globe. We have increased our profitability from the first quarter, and thereby kept the promise we made,” Chief Executive Bernd Montag said.
